The Project
GPF Enterprises recently embarked on a rooftop terrace project for a residential site in North Sydney. Encountering challenges as many construction projects do, GPF sought inventive remedies and turned to Global Synthetics for assistance.
The Challenge
The rooftop terrace was to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional. However, GPF Enterprises were faced with the challenge of how to effectively safeguard the waterproofing membrane liner. It was critical to ensure that the membrane remained intact and functional, as any leakage or damage could compromise the whole structure. Additionally, proper drainage was essential to prevent water accumulation and possible seepage issues.
Our Solution
Understanding this challenge, Global Synthetics proposed the use of our Geofirma® non-woven geotextile fabric and ProDrain® drainage cell . Here's how our solution addressed the client's concerns:
Membrane protection: Geofirma®, with its cushion-like properties, played a pivotal role in providing an added layer of protection to the vulnerable waterproof membrane. By acting as a shield, Geofirma prevented potential physical damage to the membrane, ensuring its longevity.
Drainage: to address the drainage challenge, we recommended our ProDrain® Drainage Cell. Not only does this drainage cell prevent water accumulation, but it also facilitates the seamless flow of water, ensuring the terrace remains dry and free from potential water damage.
Flexibility in Aesthetics: recognising that aesthetics are as crucial as functionality, especially for upscale projects like the one in North Sydney, we offered Geofirma® in two colours: pristine white and elegant black. This allowed GPF Enterprises to choose a shade that perfectly matched their design ethos.
Robust Design: an integral part of our solution was the robustness of our drainage cell. It's strong enough to withstand the weight and activity of materials and labourers during the construction phase, ensuring there's no damage to the waterproofing system.
The synergy between Geofirma® and the ProDrain® Drainage Cell was undeniable. The geotextile fabric served a dual purpose by providing cushion protection and acting as a filtration system, ensuring that the drainage cell remains unclogged and effective. With our system in place, the terrace was confidently paved without any hitches.
By focusing on the twin pillars of membrane protection and efficient drainage, Global Synthetics was able to offer GPF Enterprises a solution that was both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Our commitment to innovation, coupled with our understanding of the client's needs, ensured the successful completion of the rooftop terrace project.
