Investigation on Failure of Geosynthetic Reinforced Walls



Join our very own Amir Shahkolahi at the upcoming Australian Geomechnics Society Event.

The presentation reviews Geosynthetic Research Institute investigation and findings on more than 300 Geosynthetic Reinforced Walls failures around the world during the last 30 years and presents their situation, reasons, and lesson learnt.

About the speaker

Amir Shahkolahi GLOBAL SYNTHETICS, Technical Manager Australia and New Zealand

Amir has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. As a designer, project manager and researcher, he has been involved in Geosynthetic industry over the last 15 years and has more than 40 publications on geosynthetics. Amir is now the Technical Manager for Australia and New Zealand at Global Synthetics.

Amir was a Board member of the Australasian Chapter of the International Geosynthetic Society (ACIGS) for the last 4 years. He is now the Vice-Chair of the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) Queensland, member of the International Geosynthetic Society Technical Committees for reinforcement, Stabilisation, and Barriers, Industry Board member of the Australian Pavement Research Hub, member of the Standards Australia Technical Committee CE/032-Reinforced fill structures working group, board member of the QLD Landfill Working Group, Board member of the Waste Management Association of Australia in QLD, member of the ASTM Technical Committee for Geosynthetics-GCLs. He is also a guest lecturer at Sunshine Coast University and University of Wollongong, and the industry supervisor and advisor for several geosynthetic research projects in Australia and oversea
