General Information

Widening of interstate highways can present challenging erosion control problems. The additional pavement surface will collect and convey more water in a shorter time during a given storm event. This increased volume, velocity and shear stress, will most often exceed the limits of conventional degradable mats.

A properly specified, properly installed, turf reinforcement mat can handle the storm events, hold soil in place and reinforce the vegetation as it propagates. The Ohio DOT chose Landlok® TRM 450 from Propex Geosynthetics to handle this tough job. Only 100% synthetic products can continue, year after year, to provide the protection that the design was based upon.
