Large-scale working platforms have become important solutions to infrastructure projects. Geogrid reinforcement is used to reduce the thickness of the platform and increase the stability. NAUE has developed an enhanced model and user friendly software for designing geogrid reinforced working platforms based on large-scale laboratory tests and field verifications with NAUE’s Secugrid® geogrid and Combigrid® geocomposite proprietary products.
The NAUE Platform design model eliminates shortcomings of existing design guidelines such as the well-known British BR470, and provides a cost effective platform design compared to other unreinforced and reinforced solutions. The software includes several improvements such as a more realistic propagation of shear planes for geogrid stabilized and reinforced working platform, the transfer of 2-D design models into 3-D models, providing Global Stability check to Ultimate Limit State (ULS) designs, providing Serviceability (SLS) check (differential settlement/tilting).
The NAUE Platform Software can be used in different applications such as working platforms for tracked plants (e.g. piling rigs), hardstands for cranes and heavy equipment, storage areas, etc.
