ProFab® AS140/Orange nonwoven HI-VIS marker layer geotextiles are comprised of fibres, needled together into a stable matrix, that provides excellent physical and hydraulic properties. The product is produced in a high visibility (Hi-Vis) orange at the time of manufacture.
Function of a Marker Layer Geotextile
ProFab® AS140/Orange indicator geotextile is designed to delineate potential areas of hazard when excavating potentially contaminated ground or in the positive identification of buried services. The demarcation layer conducts the same filter and separation functions as the range of ProFab® non woven geotextiles, with the additional benefit of high visibility to warn contractors during future excavations of the contaminated soils beneath.
How to Apply Marker Layer Geotextile
The geotextile warning layer, ProFab® AS140/Orange product is laid at time of construction over the top of identified hazards such as contaminated soils, this additionally ensures that the clean fill layed on the top of the marker layer remains free from the pollutants underneath, thus acting as a separation layer. Generally backfilling operations proceed to cover the potential hazard. Construction drawings should note the depth and extent of such geotextile marker layers for later use by service and construction operators.
Benefits of using a Marker Layer Geotextile:
This marker layer of readily identified ProFab® AS140/Orange geotextile acts as a warning layer and allows later construction activities to cease activities once this layer is exposed and assess options permitting the construction to then proceed in a safe manner. The variety of roll widths make this product easy to apply and can have cost effective benefits as well.
